Characteristics of the phases 2 to 5 in which we as modern people primarily find ourselves are, in short:

Phase 2: 'The old group'

Dependence on the group to which you belong and dependence on other people. Being able to give little or no direction to yourself. A need for rules, tasks, or directions imposed from the outside in order to be able to function well.

Phase 3: 'The I-person'

Being able to stand on your own feet, in your own personality. Being able to formulate your own thoughts. Having opinions of your own. Being conscious of your own feelings and will. Thus you can maintain yourself against other people, authorities, and the group. Being able to present yourself: this is who I am and what I can!

Phase 4: 'The Transformation'

Everything becomes a question. Continual reflection, questioning, looking for answers. Traditional answers no longer work. A deep need to get to know life and especially yourself. 'Who am I really? What is life really about?'

Phase 5: 'The spiritual Self'

Continual reflection on yourself and working at yourself go on. Being aware of what inspires and motivates you - your values, your principles, and your mission. Learning, on the basis of this inner activity, to live out of your own spiritual strength. Need for spirituality.
